About Us
The Zoological Society of India (ZSI) is the oldest academic body in India, established on 7th January 1938, at Lahore, with the primary objective of providing a platform for quality academics and research in the field of Zoology and related allied fields.
Since its inception, the Society has progressed steadily under the able guidance of Prof. B.N. Pandey (President, ZSI) and is flying high towards reaching higher standards in the pursuit of academic and research impact and outreach, furthering its objectives.
- The Society holds annual All India Congress of Zoology and conducts simultaneous National/International seminars, symposia, and conferences for brainstorming discussions and promulgation of the recent advances in the Zoological sciences.
- This endeavor serves as a prestigious meeting point for researchers/ academicians / scientists/experts in the field, the student community, and the society.
- The Zoological Society of India has successfully completed 85 years of its Journey, and till date has organized 34 All India Congresses of Zoology at different central and state universities across India.
- It is headquartered at Gaya, Bihar; and has one branch office at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar (Central) University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh; besides six Regional centres located at Agra, Aurangabad, Satna, Chennai, Lucknow and Jaipur.
- The Society annually confers Fellowships and has instituted 20 Awards/Medals to encourage the academic and research community.
- The Zoological Society of India also publishes a biannual, peer-reviewed, and indexed Journal, the “Proceedings of the Zoological Society of India” which enjoys a prestigious position in the academia.
- Presently Prof. B.N. Pandey is the President and Prof. Kamal Jaiswal is the Secretary General of this Society.
